Carbon Footprint
DBD Paving are
committed to carbon reduction by reducing carbon emissions,
and making a difference in fighting the cause of climate change.
A carbon footprint measures the total greenhouse gas emissions caused directly or indirectly by a person, organization, event or product. A carbon footprint is the sum of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases created by a single unit of product during its life from production, through the supply chain, to use and disposal.
Simply enter the product you wish to buy and the total square meterage, the carbon calculator will then inform you of the CO2 figure.
and making a difference in fighting the cause of climate change.
The scientific consensus is that human activity is primarily responsible for the rising level of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Our electricity, heating and transport requirements are all largely met through the combustion of fossil fuels, releasing the main greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.
Climate change is commonly accepted to be the greatest threat to our environment, it will result in us all experiencing more extreme weather with wetter and colder winters, and dryer summers.

DBD Paving customers will now be able to compare all 500 of Marshall’s hard landscaping concrete products, using Marshall’s carbon labels which provide independent verified carbon footprints for their domestic products. Customers will be able to make a decision about the products they purchase, and their own impact on the environment.
Marshalls was the first company in the hard landscaping industry to devise and launch a carbon calculator for their customers. It requires the quantity of each product you want to use, and then gives you a figure for the CO2 impact. It allows you see how many trees are required to offset the carbon produced in the creation of your patio or driveway.
Marhsalls has one of the widest product ranges in the industry for both patios and driveways. In its driveway range, products such as Driveline 50 have a carbon footprint of 16kg CO2 per m2, while the carbon emission from a competitor’s equivalent product is up to 20kg CO2 per m2. While a 4kg difference may sound like a small number, in terms of an average driveway it is equal to 240kg. This emission is comparable to driving an average family car from Land’s End to John O’Groats (837 miles).
